A Presbyterian minister blogs about spirituality, culture, religion (both organized and disorganized), life, evolution, literature, Jesus, and lightening up.
This is my personal blog. I comment about theology, social issues, political issues and what not. These are my views and do not represent those of the congregation I joyfully serve. But my congregation loves me! Read More
Wow, you can say this again. I've been listening to the debates, and now I feel totally confused. It seems to me that everyone is talking out of both sides of their mouth, and contradicting themselves at every turn. Both sides accuse the other of being liars. It's hard to know who, or what to believe.
My vote is up in the air, and I'm probably not going to totally make up my mind until I'm literally standing there in front of the voting machine.
"Shuck reads a lot, but he doesn’t limit himself to the library. He offers his own theological and ethical reflections on a wide range of issues, including the environment, politics, the church, the American Empire, and more. Much more." --Doug King, Witherspoon Society
"One of the most vile blogs on the net. God have mercy on us." --Rev. John Erthein, Erie, PA
"Tip o' the fez to Rev. John over at Shuck and Jive....I found Jesus over there...he was hiding in John's archives." --Dr. Monkey Von Monkerstein, Johnson City, TN
"Of course this is all a lot of nonsense..." --Viola Larson, Voices of Orthodox Women
"...one of the more interesting pastors I've ever come across." --Yael of "Pharisees Rock!"
"Flirting with a con-artist like Shuck is hardly a way of witnessing to any kind of biblical faith." --Rev. Toby Brown, Cuero, TX
"I sometimes wonder why I have a blog. I could save an incredible amount of effort by sending people to your blog with the advice: 'Believe and do just the opposite of what John says." It's amazing how often that would put them in exactly the right place biblically and theologically.'" --Rev. Jim Berkley, IRD
"Reverend, community organizer, peace maker and so much more...I just love John's tireless passion for making the world a better place. You rock, Shuck!" --Fran I Am, Albany, NY "And yes, his activities have been reported." --Rev. Bill Crawford, Thibodaux, LA

I sent it, but I can't take the credit for it. It came from a monk friend of mine in British Columbia.
If this election goes down the tubes, I'm moving up there and secluding myself in one of the cells at the monastery.
Ha! Thanks for this!
